I absolutely love being in the studio. Today was the first day in the studio to kick off the New Year. The studio will always be a second home to me although sometimes I wish it could be my first. This is where all the magic happens. I've been recording at Long Beach Most Wanted for some years now and I've always loved the experience. We actually stayed in the studio longer than expected today. 4 hours turned into 8 because of all of the talent that happened to stop by. Shout out to everyone who came through: Big Freez, Marc Payne, "TC" Turner Classic, Chizzle, Mike Philson, Jamaal, and of course Lil Brudda was in the building. The level of talent I am around lets me know that the big payoff is right around the corner. It feels good! DJ Soulo is the man behind the sessions and he is great at what he does. Whether it's engineering, production, or recording he gets it done. Everybody has their own process when it comes to writing and recording. For me, I love writing in the studio. After so many years of doing music, it does not take me long at all to write a verse or a song on the spot. Being surrounded by loud music fills me up with the energy needed to come up with dope songs EVERYTIME! I do not think I have a certain formula for the songs I write. Sometimes I can start by writing the hook and other times I start by writing the verse. It really just depends on the beat. Usually after hearing the beat, it tells me what to write. Coming up with the subject is much easier after hearing the track. When it comes to a structured song, I always write it out. I definitely freestyle but writing seems more professional to me. It gives me time to actually put everything I want into a song. Now you know a little bit about the studio process. Of course I can't give you all of the secrets and tips but you get the idea. Doing what you love should always bring you complete joy and it should never feel like work. They say that if you do what you love in life, you will never work a day in your life. Very true! I challenge you to start doing more of what you love but don't just do it, be great at it! If you can be great at what you love, the money will follow. If you hate your job or working for others, create your own lane. Why help someone else build their dream when you can have your own? Think about it!

Still The BeginningWell, we all made it past New Years Day but it is still the beginning. I had a pretty interesting day. Although it could have definitely started off better, it ended up a lot better than it started. I am excited about all of the new changes that are taking place. Many of them are long overdue and the rest are harder to deal with. I know that I will remain optimistic about every situation so I look forward to a positive outcome. So far I have been keeping up with the things I told myself would make my life better. Staying in the gym consistently is one of the biggest. It feels good to finally get back in there full throttle. Just got to get over the soreness in the beginning stages again but hey, no pain no gain right?? Of course I had to work on my passion today as I will everyday. Lil Brudda made a ridiculous beat today that pulled a dope ass song out of me. I cannot wait to record it this weekend. You will definitely hear it on the upcoming project "C.I.G.A.R.S." No matter what I go through or how I feel, music puts me in the place I need to be in. I absolutely love writing, recording, performing, just the whole process. I have definitely neglected my passion in the past which has slowed down my progress but never again. My music is really all about expression of self. I do not make music based on what I think people will like. I make music based on how I feel and what I go through and hopefully there will be people out there that can understand and relate. I feel like a lot of the music being promoted nowadays is bullshit. It's either too simplistic, too fake, or just straight up garbage. I know for a fact that I will be in my own lane when it comes to originality and substance. I am looking forward to working with some heavy hitters this year. Ya'll will definitely have to be on the lookout. Shout out to those I am in the process of working with already as well as those plan on working with me soon. |
